At this time, most of the northern region are still experiencing winter conditions and plant development of any kind is very limited. Broadleaf weeds can be seen on southern facing areas and along the southern side of buildings. These weeds germinated in fall and went dormant during the winter. In the main body of the turf areas, it is still too cold for any actual plant development. Trying to control these weeds results in limited control. The weeds are still mostly dormant and herbicides end up burning off the tops of the weeds and when conditions are right, the weed grows back. We will get to the northern region next month.
