Dollar Spot

Dollar spot affects all turfgrasses and can occur anytime between spring and late fall. On close-cut golf turf, dollar spot appears as bleached white or straw-coloured softball-sized patches.

Dollar spot thrives when days are warm and nights are cool with dew, but disease can still occur during colder periods.

When turf is poorly nourished and soil conditions are dry, disease severity is worse. Multiple spots may develop and come together, forming large, pitted areas of diseased turf.

To help prevent and control dollar spot, use a combination of cultural management and chemical practices, including:

  • Deep and infrequent watering to discourage moisture buildup
  • Early morning rolling, mowing and dew removal
  • Alternating application of fungicide products to prevent disease resistance
